Public Notice- Monthly Testing of the Early Warning System
As an established monthly Standard Operating Procedure, in the interest of public safety, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency wishes to inform members of the public of the following:
1. On the 1st Thursday of each month the agency would test it’s Multi- Hazard Early Warning System between the hours of 11:30am and 12:00noon.
2. The test would not exceed 7 minutes.
3. These test exercises would consist of audible siren tones with high decibel levels and voice commands. Please note that the siren tone would be that of a Tsunami alert.
4. The Early Warning System Towers are located at the Store Bay Heritage Park, Bon Accord Gospel Hall Church yard, Feeder Road and Fort King George.
Please note that the objectives of these test exercises are for the following:
To allow all persons to become familiarized with the siren tone associated with a Tsunami Warning Evacuation Message.
To test the functionality of the system, and ensure its optimal use for readiness.
To measure the reach of the audible tones to the “at risk” coast line communities.
Members of the public are advised that the sounding of these tones does not warrant an evacuation of any kind. Members of the public are also asked to acquaint themselves with these tones and testing periods.
Thank you.
