The Tobago Emergency Management Agency Launched – Virtual Vision Platform
The conference room of the Mt. Irvine Bay Hotel was transformed last evening as many stakeholders gathered to witness the launch of TEMA’s newest addition to its disaster preparedness plan- The Virtual Vision app. The app is the First of its kind in Trinidad and Tobago.
Notwithstanding TEMA’s progressive steps over the years TEMA’s Director Allan Stewart said, their analysis has led them to identify major gaps and weaknesses in their Emergency Information Management systems, one of which is reporting to the public in a timely manner. He added that today’s society is driven by the speed of information and if starved, in the face of crisis, it can lead to further suffering, anxiety and chaos.
A vision of the Director- the app was developed by Distributed Systems Limited of Trinidad. TEMA’s Director Allan Stewart said Virtual Vision is an innovative Web based reporting app which will provide its users with real time pictures of emergency events by integrating modern technology, more so, the smartphones. This app will assist TEMA in prioritizing emergency responses in the event a disaster is to
Distributed Systems Limited emphasized that the app was birthed to assist in the preservation of life through technology.
The launch is the first part of a series of activities that will precede a robust campaign in the first quarter of the new financial year according to Mr. Stewart. The aim is to achieve buy-in by the population and more importantly, the citizens of Tobago both the public and the stakeholders.
The event was deemed successfully savvy and informative by various stakeholders who attended.
